Spanish construction, bad business

construccion

Spain continues to maintain its highly negative levels in relation to the construction sector, and this even though it is not anything new, has now been reinforced by the new data which showed the European Statistical Office (Eurostat), according to which the activity of this Spanish item fell in the country no less than 37.3 percent, compared with the same month of 2009.

This high percentage is really worrying, because not only is more 30 points above the recorded fall to give the euro zone, which was 8.1 per cent, but it also places Spain as leader in the sad ranking of crashes between countries that have the euro as official currency.

In relation to the inter-annual terms, were several countries that recorded interesting increases among 14 entering the analysis. Among them those most highlighted so Poland, with an increase of 13.4 percent, and Sweden and United Kingdom, both with 6.9 per cent. At the opposite end, i.e. those who head the table of positions in relation to the falls, are: Spain as we have said to 37.3 per cent, followed by Slovenia with the 18.5 per cent, and Romania, with a low of 14.2 per cent in regards to the last 12 months.

On the other hand in so far as the construction of buildings, in the last year, it has declined a 7.5 per cent in the euro area, and a 4.6 in the European Union. Likewise the civil works has retreated a 9.9 per cent in the euro area, while it has increased by 2.6 per cent between the EU. As for monthly, the construction of buildings has suffered a decline of 0.6 per cent and 2.3 per cent, in the euro area, and in the European Union, respectively.
